Your Fundamental Goal

by Utpal Vaishnav on July 19, 2009

Your fundamental goal is all about life, it includes all your important sub-goals like running a successful business, achieve a dream-post in the job or attain the highest level of spirituality.

It is the moral fiber of your life. It is a brief assertion of whatever is the source of your pledge and obsession towards life, not just about pertinent things.

Fundamental Goal Discovery Touchstones:

  1. List what you want to eliminate in your life: List what causes you anxiety, annoyance, disappointment, apprehension, odium, displeasure – it should include everything that you do not yarn for in your life. Select no more than 4 or 5 items.
  2. List what you wish for in your life: focus on what makes you feel pleased, rewarded, satisfied and energize you. Look for deeply satisfying experiences that you want to have. Again, select no more than 4 or 5 items.
  3. Set priorities and overcome blockade: now write down the selected items from step 1 and 2 and prioritize. Think of what are the blockades in your way… how can you overcome that?
  4. Write your own testimonial: Consider your life as a project, think, at the end of your life, what testimonial you want to attach to it. Remember, your testimonial is the words by that the project called ‘your life’ will be remembered.
  5. Write your Fundamental goal: Write no more than 3 sentences as your fundamental goal. Express the essence of your life. If you feel energized, commitment, enthusiasm and the most important, “Yes, it’s me!” feeling.
