It is damn straightforward to think but getting any organization see the world the way it is and not the way they wish it were isn’t that easy.
A thoughtful effort is needed in the organization with an attitude, with an environment that allows people to see things the way they are, to deal with the way it is now, not the way they wish it would be.
Look back at the past year’s failures. See
- Whether most of the failures are caused by your unwillingness to embrace the realities?
- Couldn’t those failures be dealt with facing the realities and taking correct actions?
- That’s what management is – identifying and doing something about it. Not mere anticipating, not waiting for the next plan. Not being in re-evaluation loop all the time. Not being irresolute.
- It’s getting on with it!
As the year is coming to an end, the few critical questions are:
- Have you listed down and evaluated the failures of the past year?
- Did you embrace the realities of the failures?
- How comfortable are you seeing the things the way they are – and the way they are not – without any sugar-coating?
- If you are not comfortable, what would you do to be comfortable and act upon it?
Your actions triggered by answering the above questions would be the Christmas Gift for me… and my Merry Christmas wishes to you too!
