Here is some useful information about hosted trouble ticket software.

Mantis | URL: http://www.mantisbt.org | Free

  • It is a free opensource system. Very easy to install and use on any web server which supports PHP and MySQL (Or PostgreSQL). It is fully accessible via Internet.
  • Some really great features, includes summary dashboard with totals.
  • One can get a lot with this tool, including subprojects which can be used to separate UAT from QAT, release management support (it can list bugs resolved by release for a given subproject), full bug tracking support with various status, reporting by status, ability to assign bugs to resources, security, metrics, filtered reporting by various fields, custom fields, unlimited users and so on…
  • Here is the list of companies using it.. widespread use – http://www.mantisbt.org/directory.php
  • Very robust, reliable and will easily support many number of users in case. Administrators or managers (anyone assigned the privilege) would need to configure projects and users, assign users to projects, manage releases and that’s about it.

Kayako | URL: http://www.kayako.com/ | $30 per month/VPS

  • Very good one. Clean Interface. Robust. Value for money.

RoundUp | URL: http://roundup.sourceforge.net/ | Free

  • It is meant to track software development, but does VERY well as a TROUBLE TICKET system. You can customized almost every feature and rating, etc.
